Staring at a computer screen for hours can often turn one's eyes into mush. So, last night, I decided to take a break from Macromedia Flash... and go to 80s Night at The Wave. I danced to songs that I haven't heard in a while, including "Thriller", "Dancing with myself", and "Wild Wild West." I had a great time and bumped butts with theater friends Kat, Becki and Ryan (who, by the way, can flashdance like there's no tomorrow). This may become a healthy weekly addiction. Speaking of addictions, I am still hooked in Chantico - the drinking chocolate from Starbucks. I discovered that at MacArthur Center, it came in 6oz, 8oz and 12oz servings. You can bet that I got the 12oz. It knocks me off my feet every time (and I like it). A little masochistic, eh?
This Spring Break, I decided to catch up on my movies. On Tuesday, I went to see "Be Cool". It was entertaining, but had a flimsly plot and was not as tongue-in-cheek as "Get Shorty" or "Pulp Fiction." On Thursday, I watched Scorcese's "The Aviator." I really don't see why critics were hyped about this film. It had great cinematography, but the story was weak. For an aerial dogfight, I'd choose "Independence Day" over "The Aviator." Although taking the video project class has made me more critical about the quality of films, it opens my eyes to the importance of narrative storytelling.
As May 7 looms ever closer, the idea of getting out in the "real world" and getting a "real job" is become more of a "real" reality. I've been spending a lot of time searching for jobs in the design field, starting with positions in the Hampton Roads area. There are several, but most of the better paying/benefits are with jobs in more metropolitan areas. I just really have to buckle down and re-do my resume.
I uploaded the test site for ODU Music & Arts Society:
