History, family and puppy...

Yesterday instead of working I went to a history museum. The theme was Canada-Normandy(France), 500 years of shared history.

The museum was in an old Fort. It was built between 1820 and 1824 by the British transforming it into a military depot to serve British troops in North America.

Behind the fort is Jacques-Cartier bridge, one of the main bridges to get to the island of Montreal

Here are some pictures from the exhibition. I found out much later that I shouldn't been taking pictures from hearing a tourist get in trouble!

riding boots

bar sign

multi-barrel cannon

people carrier (not sure of the exact term for it!)

sweet padlock!

small violin (the kind they would carry in their pocket)

After going to the museum, I went downtown for a visit with my cousin Catherine. She's only about 6 months older than I am, so we pretty much grew up like sisters when we were young. We went to a Salvadorian restaurant. It was really good. It was my first time eating food from El Savador. I got a platter with yucca fries and pupusa (corn tortilla pocket and tasty cheese and bean filling). It goes with the traditional curtido (coleslaw-ish stuff) and tomato sauce. It's awesome.

Here she is with a puppy she was babysitting for a friend

He's name is Kasey! He was just freakin' adorable!

Not so adorable is this cat that lives on my staircase. He won't budge when you're trying to get through! Montreal seems to have a huge overpopulation of cats. They're everywhere, just like Mazda 3!
