I’ve seen a lot of things fused with tribal bellydance in my time. Some of it quite good (
Urban Tribal,
The Indigo’s take “Opa Cupa”,
Zoe’s pop n’ lock stylings). Other’s not so good. But I’ll leave those unnamed.
This piece caught my eye. It’s tribal bellydance-esque choreography, but executed by student’s who’ve obviously spent a lot of time in formal, modern dance school. It’s rather awesome. The choreographer is Donna Mejia, Guest Artist in Residence for Smith College.
