More of My Fashion-Blindness Angst--

Ok, I've been staring at boater hats far too much today and still can't make a decision, so I'm going to throw myself on your mercy once again.

This is a terrible cellphone picture, because I don't have time to scan it in properly (that's something I'll have to do later), so my apologies.

See the little boy in the tweed coat perched on top the bench? (That's Tancred, in case you were wondering. ^_~ His sister is wearing the coat with the half-belt I was trying to name earlier, which doesn't show up well here.) I've been identifying his hat as a "flat-topped boater," which is probably a little redundant, but is it, in fact, a boater? It's light in colour and has the nice striped band, but the brim is kind of short and not exactly as flat as your standard boater. This could simply be because it's an illustration, but it's also possible I'm failing to correctly identify another type of late Victorian/Edwardian hat. (And it can't be post-Edwardian, because that's falling outside of the time period of The Green Beads.)

Thoughts? Help?
