Flight of the Conchords, Free eBooks and Messing with Text Generators--

Jan 29, 2009 14:50

I think I'm deeply in love with Flight of the Conchords. I'm more than halfway through the first season, with four episodes left, and I've watched the two episodes that have so far aired in the second season. I've had the S1 DVDs for who knows how long now, and I can't figure out why I didn't crack them out earlier. *G ( Read more... )

I'd read both of those mad lib stories. Guh. :D

And Flight of the Conchords FTW!! I adore them beyond reason. :)

*G* So would I. (And I encourage anyone and everyone to go over, try out the madlib thingy, and see what they come up with. *snicker*)

They're beyond adorable. I just finished watching "Girlfriends," which was a scream. "See, I told you she's a sniper." ^_~

My workstudy Marcelo and I constantly sing "Foux da Fa Fa" to each other. "Ananas. Soupe du jour. Jacques Cousteau. Baguette. Oh ho ho!" Hee....

Ahahahahah! That was wonderful. I was a bit shocked how much of it I understood, too, because my French is crap, but wow... memories of junior high textbooks. *G*

Flight of the Conchords is made of six kinds of win. Seriously. I can't get enough of Bret and Jemaine. And Murray too.

It's amazingly addictive! And oh, I love Murray too. I feel so bad for him so much of the time. ^_^

Mmm, did you ever read Aberystwyth mon Amour?

Um... no? I'm guessing that's probably a good thing... I'm not familiar with the book. Enlighten me? *grin*

Malcolm Pryce, Welsh noir of a high comic order (does help if you know Aberystwyth)- he has Raymond Chandler's tone down perfectly. There's a series (Last Tango in Aberystwyth, Don't Cry for me Aberystwyth and the Unbearable Lightness of Being in Aberystwyth).

Be careful of disparaging an entire genre. *g* You are talking to someone that used to work in the romance novel industry, and a lot of the better 'mainstream' authors cut their teeth on the old Harlequin/Silhouette books back in the day.

At any rate, I'd pay money for someone to write the 2nd scenario. *g*

And yaye for the Bret & Jermaine love!!!

Was I? Eeep. Sorry about that. I just meant that I've never been a big romance reader; after all, slash has an awful lot in common with romance, so it'd be a bit hypocritical to slam something so similar. (And I must admit, when I was a babysitter as a teen, I'd often read the Harlequins that people left lying around. Nice, quick reads.)

*snerk* So would I. As it stands right now, I can't get Karl and Harry to fuck, and this is distressing me greatly, so it won't be me.

Hee. FotC is great. I mean, I knew they were amusing already, but I don't know why I didn't actually sit down and watch more than a bit here and there before.

Yep. I am. (For you, actually. ^_~) And I'm a bit stuck. I have the plotty bits in hand, but I'm failing to get them to fuck convincingly, when I can manage any of it at all... *sigh*

Actually, the second one could work...maybe the 'commander' is the RRC's (rugged, relentless cowboy) old commander from their navy days and is also the father of the 'unwanted society engagement'?

Ooooh! I like that! That works nicely. *G* (Also, I think the term "RRC" should be standard everywhere. ^_~)
