AIM is a Tool of the Devil...

Right. So, I've done it. I've finally upgraded Netscape, and with it, I've installed AIM. *spit, spit* Resistant? Not me.

*clings* Don'ttakeawaymyICQ!Don'ttakeitaway!

So I'm mucking around with it mostly, trying to figure out how it works as opposed to my beloved ICQ (WhichIwon'tgiveup!Don'tmakeme, don'tmakeme! ^_^), because so many of you use it ( Read more... )

*G* Spiffy. Added you and gotham_syren last night. Say, does this thing actually tell you when someone adds you? Because I can't tell one way or the other.

Question:
Did you submit answer to a survey that went around LOTR FF Communities/MLs back in February? Just curious...

I don't think so... At least, I don't remember answering a survey in Feb. What was it about?

Was just curious. I just returned home from the Mythopoeic Society's annual Conference, and one of the papers presented there was on women who write fic in the LOTR Fandom. Questions included whether you wrote movie or book based fic, how old you were, why you wrote fic, that kind of thing. One of the respondees had the same psuedonymn as your AIM, which is what sparked my curiousity. *Grins*

Oh, btw, I really enjoyed reading about that. Glad you had a good time and that your paper went over so well.

*LOL* That explains it. Nah, I'm sure you know that "Altariel" is another one of Galadriel's names, and since "Galadriel" was taken on AIM (of course), I cycled through all sorts of permutations until I found something that would work.

What's funny, now that you've told me, is that although I *didn't* answer that survey, I do write about slash in my academic life, I actually presented a paper on LotR slash parodies last March in Florida, and I was discussed (as a interviewee) in one of the other papers. The similarities between your tale and mine are a bit disturbing. *G* So, not the Mythopoeic Society, but still...
