Um...

...Why do so many of the songs I listen to have (admittedly not safe, sane and/or consensual) BDSM bents? I swear I'm not picking bands consciously for it.

*wanders off dazed, having finally paid attention to the lyrics of "Pain" by Three Days Grace*

ETA: Ok fine, now I'm combing through my CDs to see what I can come up with. *facepalm*

"Blood, Sex and Booze" - Green Day (Has the distinction of not only being clear about what it's about, but starts with a clip of a woman ordering someone around and wielding a flogger.)
"Self-Esteem" - Offspring (Admittedly mostly about a guy stuck in a bad relationship, but holy crap he's invested in liking the pain of it.)
"Bleed" - Puddle of Mudd (Somewhat debatable, but easily read as such.)
"REV 22:20" - Puscifer (This one's more vague, but I love this song so much. I think a lot of it has to do with the blasphemy: "Christ is coming/And so am I" [...] "Jesus is risen/It's no surprise/Even he would/Martyr his momma/To ride to Hell between those thighs." *G* Nicely played, gentlemen.)
"Figured You Out" - Nickelback (Slight BDSM bent, AND the best song to write dirty sex to, IMHO.)
"The Hand That Feeds" - Nine Inch Nails (If you didn't think NIN was going to end up here, well... Yeah.)
"Burn" - Three Days Grace (Somewhat debatable, but the positioning of an outside observer twigs it for me.)
"Pain" - Three Days Grace (Um, yes. I can't believe it took until today for me to clearly hear "Pain without love/Pain; can't get enough/Pain; I like it rough/'Cause I'd rather feel pain than nothing at all" and go, "Er, what?")
"Take Me Under" - Three Days Grace (Mostly the subject begging to be pushed under. What is it about these guys?)
"Hallelujah" - Rufus Wainwright (Yeah, ok, this is probably the weirdest inclusion in the list and most hard to defend, since, yes, so much of it is simple Old Testament references, Samson and Delilah and all that, but I cannot shake the overall haunting tone and the "She tied you to a kitchen chair/She broke your throne/She cut your hair/And from your lips/She drew the hallelujah." There's far too much ecstacy in that agony, and only some of it is religious. Hell, it works for me.)

That's a cursory look at what was closest to the computer, anyway. If I find 3-4 2-3 more, I've got a full-length CD. ^_~

Er... Is this where I start asking for recs?

ETA2: Oh, and savageseraph? *rubs eyes* *yawns* Sean woke me up this morning. Wouldn't let me sleep. He's moping. Just thought you should know. ^_~
