LotR FPF & RPF Fandom Open House--
Other fandoms do it, so why don't we?
Alrighty, ladies and gents, inspired by similar happenings in other fandoms, and in the spirit of keeping our good ol' shared fandom rolling along, meeting new and not-so-new people, and finding new and not-so-new communities, and with the generous input of a variety of lovely ladies (not the least of which is empy), I'm declaring this house "open."
Are you new to LotR FPF and/or RPF? New to LJ? Are you an old hand in the fandom who just wants a chance to mingle and discover previously undiscovered users and comms? Have you stumbled upon something exciting lately that you simply need to share with as many people as possible or you'll burst?
Well, you can do all that here.
Comment and tell everybody about yourself, your favourite users and/or favourite comms and links, then browse through and check out other users' comments, say hello, etc. It's essentially a meet and greet.
Include whatever info you wish in your comment, but if you're stuck for what to say, feel free to use some/all of the following fields:
LJ/fandom name: [Your own username, or the name of whomever/whatever you're plugging.]
FPF, RPF, Both, or None of the Above: [Your preferred mode of expression.]
Slash, het, gen: [What do you prefer to read/write/draw/vid/etc.?]
Favourite Peoples of Middle-Earth: [Men, Elves, Hobbits, Dwarves, Ents, etc? What areas of the fandom are you involved in?]

What to expect from my LJ: [Do you post excessively about your multiple visits to the dentist? About the beauty that is Figwit? Are you addicted to quizzes/memes? Do you primarily post fic/art/recs/icons/fandom squee/about your RL/etc.?]

Other links: [Other exciting/interesting places you think people would be interested in. Could be a favourite community, could be your personal website, etc.]
If this is successful, we'll do it again next year, and the hosting duties will pass on to empy. Please, feel free to plug this post far and wide. The only way for this to be successful is if you pass the word on.
Just a quick extra note: This is open to both FPF and RPF areas of fandom, since many of us sit on the fence between the two. It's fine to prefer one over the other, or dislike one or the other, but this is not the place to launch attacks on either side -- comments containing inflammatory material will be deleted.

ETA: Oh, and on the FPF side, if you haven't done so already, you might want to Friend middleearthnews, a fandom-wide LotR FPF newsletter. If you're a mod of a comm, or just have an announcement you want to make/link you want to pass on, they're a fantastic place to do so. They're also looking for a more diverse readership base (to contribute as much as read), as they're very Hobbit-centric right now. (And hey, it's useful having a chance to reach an audience outside of a small circle of fandom -- I've been sending along announcements to M-E News for sons_of_gondor once a week, to excellent effect.)
