After watching an HGTV show on tree houses earlier today draxius and I decided that my preferred decorating style is "Turn of the century eccentric eclectic crazy rich world traveler". I like dark ornate wood and eclectic foreign pieces and that "overstuffed chairs and amber or green glass shaded lamps with odd creepy masks on the walls - Victorian world traveler's library" look. Also I decided that I absolutely loathe that weathered French country style. Stop beating up and whitewashing perfectly lovely wood furniture!
Being decidedly a girl I like to watch wedding shows like Platinum Weddings.
Today they featured one of the tackiest weddings I've ever seen. There were seven outfit changes and the one they show on the album made her look like Wonder Woman (unfortunately you can't get the full effect with her flowers in front of her). There was a 12 course meal at the Vegas Four Seasons including martini glasses filled with imported caviar and chocolate fabrage egg desserts. The full wedding cost over 1.5 MILLION, and this was just a vow renewal! They'd already been married 15 years and after a near divorce decided to do it all over again. Somehow I suspect that throwing a 1.5 million dollar "we're back together!" party after a near divorce is not really the sign of a healthy relationship. Methinks the lady doth protest too much.
Meanwhile this wedding was one of the prettiest I've ever seen, and it better have been for the money ($500,000). Full tilt three day Pakistani wedding, all of her clothing and jewelry was made to match for her. The freaking cake was nearly $10 grand but at least everything they did with the ungodly gobs of money they spent was actually pretty. The first two days consisted of traditional Pakistani and Muslim customs and the third day was an American style wedding but with some Eastern flair which I think really set it apart.
