Had she been older, he thought, as he watched her laugh with his youngest sister, she might have been someone he could have loved. She was perfect; beautiful, with a strong mind and a will of her own, and most importantly, she knew about Narnia and what, or rather, who he was. But she was young, and he felt so very old, and something kept him away from her; she was simply too pure and too innocent for him to taint her with his life.
