"From now on, we stick to rations."

I had a really nice day today. :)
I chatted with Brian Jacob Smith, Patrick Gilmore, and this guy called Herb... who is apparently also an actor on SGU.
Isn't that AMAZING?
Thank you, thank you, SGU Hiatus Project.
Being involved in the whole Wormhole Riders thing sure does come with the best perks, huh? ;)
Anyone can join in, by the way. 9pm EST ( Read more... )

Totally here for the picspam, and they're awesome (and also... wait, I thought RDA was married?)

Anyway... SGU. Meh. The more I watch it, the more disturbed I become at the whole "I'll take over your body and have sex with it, because I want to have hot make-up sex with my wife, damnit!" Not to mention the whole "I'll have sex with this guy who's totally my husband, even though he looks nothing like my husband." And last, but gloriously not-least: "I can totally have sex with someone while I'm in a different body, because the writers have never worn high heels and understand how something that small can make a huge difference - now imagine what wearing a whole 'nother body would be like."

Yeah... I have issues with SGU. Not the idea, as such, because it has a cool concept (I'd rather have had another season of SGA, though, even with McKeller), and good actors and cool sets and all... But damnit, people, I don't like the sex. I don't like the body-swap sex. And I do not like how the dour tone and dark setting makes it feel like nothing so much as BSG-lite - when I used to watch the Stargate-shows (and movies, and read the books...) for the laughs they'd give me.

On a whole... I watch SGU because I'm in love with the Stargate concept, and because I want to give it a chance. But... right now? I don't see this becomming one of my favorite shows of all time, the way SG-1 and SGA did. :-(

Nope, him and Apryl (I think that's her name) split when Wylie was really young. He's never been married. :P Yeah, I was surprised too. I mean, LOOK at him!

DUDE, thank you! You pretty much have the same opinion as me! I hate the whole Oh yeah, I totally took over Telford's body and had sex with my wife, while cheating on her with the doctor, but I'm still the victim. :(

And seriously? One of the IOA doing lesbian stuff in a straight woman's body? Not cool. And seriously, what's with Scott doing everything that breathes?

Yes, I'd rather have another season of SGA, too. Dude, I loved SGA. It was almost matching up to SG1. I don't like how meaningless the sex is! Sam and Jack are freaking meant to be, and they never had sex. Scott and James barely know each other and they're doing each other in the first episode! And yeah, you totally don't get that nice vibe you're supposed to get with SG shows!

I stopped at episode 9, I think. :l Haven't seen the rest.
It's such a let down. :(

Episode 10 is brilliant - you really should watch that before you give up on it entirely. :-)

And, yeah... I just can't watch that episode without wondering what the hell would've happened if he'd been gay and Telford'd shifted bodies with him to find himself in bed with a guy! o.O

About the only people I like is the Colonel (all his annoying whining, body-hopping and semi-consensual sex aside) and the lady soldier who Scott was having sex with in the first episode. A) She actually looks like a soldier, B) she kicks ass and C) she's not as overly gorgeous as TJ whose looks totally yanks me out of the show every time she appears on-screen.

Yeah... I don't like sex-scenes. Never did. They're pointless in action-movies and annoying in anything else - and they have no place in a show like SGU, IMO. Could we get the Star Trek TOS version back, please? You know the 'sitting on the edge of the bed, pulling your boots on, and everybody's dressed'? I liked those.

Oh... wow. I guess that's what I get for not paying attention to gossip at all, and living on a whole 'nother hemisphere altogether. Suddenly RDA's absense and retirement makes a lot more sense. I bet he's a great dad, though - and I'm pretty sure Wylie's going to be a great lady. :-)

Ah, okay. :P

I know right! That would've been.. ehh... well the ratings woulda dropped. Hard.

Really? I don't like the Colonel at all. The only ones I like are Eli, Greer, and that badass Sergeant. Yeah she's pretty awesome, too.

Meh, sex scenes are gross. Especially when you're watching with your parents... seriously, THAT WAS AWKWARD. Yes! Those scenes are fine. Before and after. Don't need to know what actually happens.

Hahah, I'm in the southern hemisphere. ;) Ah, yeah, he dropped out to spend more time with his daughter. Awww. ♥ Yeah, she's gonna be beautiful when she grows up!

Greer's too much of a cliche for me to really like. Much like Eli, actually, which pisses me off something awful. I mean... an overweight gamer who lives with his mother and is secretly a genius? Man, we've never seen that before!

And every time I watch, I just think... 'God, how much better would Eli's character have been if he'd been a woman'!

I understand why you don't like the Colonel. I don't get why I like him! It's very annoying to like a character you see nothing likeable about at all. I guess it would be kinda liking Kavanaugh in SGA... ;-)

Exactly! Put some guessing back in, please. I don't want to know how people have sex - implying that they do? Do it just fine for me! :-)

Ahahah, that's true. :P I just find Eli impossible to hate. He's so smiley all the time.

Hey! That's actually true! That would've broken all the cliches...

Well Kavanaugh was more love to hate. ;) Ahaha, well... some people just click with some characters? I don't know. Hahahah.

Ugh, I totally know what you mean. I don't want to see what happens! Gross! So much for aiming it at a younger audience... it's not a family show anymore!

Isn't it odd, that shows aimed for an older audience have to have less sex than shows aimed at the late teenagers and 20-somethings?

Like my grandmother (who's closing in on 90 fast) once said: "Honey, I've been married and given birth to four children. Sex doesn't really shock me."

... still doesn't mean I want to watch people having sex, though... ;-)

Totally. I mean, I'm part of the supposed "younger audience" and I'm kind of offended. They seem to think we want to watch sex happen. Heck no...

Hahah, go Grandma!

I don't want to watch it either...
