http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/4436238.stm The head of the National Probation Service has banned his chief officers from lobbying against government policy, according to a leaked letter.
Roger Hill's letter was sent on 7 November, when chief police officers were lobbying MPs over anti-terror measures, backed by the home secretary.
PM, on Radio 4, have just been pointing out that this was at the same time as Charles Clarke was asking police constables to lobby MPs. Now, it will be interesting to see if someone can actually make it stick that he asked them to lobby - various different papers/websites spin it as that, but no-one can provide an exact quote. But could this provide enough mud to stick, or result in a Hazel Blears-esque "unwittingly" misled incident? Note that Roger Hill is a Home Office wossname asking them not to lobby against policy, and it just so happens that they disagree with the Home Office.
Hmm hmm.
EDIT: Also, someone at a Conservative hustings just said "We've got someone with a little bit of Churchill in him." And she meant David Cameron. Now, I might be missing something, but in what way is David Cameron like Churchill?
