I'd watch that!
Who's your Lear?

Yeah, tricky one.

The obvious answer is probably Ian McKellen. But maybe Christopher Lee. Really not sure, though.

I thought of McKellen too, don't know anyone better!

Well, since brixtonbrood is objecting on age, I'm down to Christopher Lee and Peter Sallis.

I'm not sure that Sir Ian would be flattered by being cast as Maggie Smith's father.

Yeah, well, there'd be make-up and stuff, but it's tricky.

Maggie and Judi are both 77 (born a couple of weeks apart, December 1934). So that makes Helen Mirren Cordelia, at a spritely 66. Ian is squished in between, at 73.

But if we wanted someone semi-reasonable, they'd need to be at least 90. Which does bring in Christopher Lee, who'd be clearly good as a slightly malevolent Lear.

So let's look at 90-ish actors. Peter Sallis might work, if you wanted to play him in a somewhat more bewildered mode.

Wow, looking for people in their 90s has turned up a few women too. Including Olympia Dukakis. Man, I wish they'd make more Tales of the City with her.
