Tom Lehrer once said: Among the things they did in an attempt to make the [Roman Catholic] Church more... commercial was to introduce the vernacular into portions of the Mass to replace Latin, and to widen somewhat the range of music permissible in the liturgy. Archbishop Louis Walsh's stated policies include:
- introduction of Pope Idol to replace the traditional Papal election
- heckling of other judges priests during sermons
- putting christening of babies to a congregation-wide vote, with the bottom two babies having to compete in a cry-off
- choir-boys will sing Abba songs in tight white t-shirts, while swaying on stools with a microphone.
