So, I find myself reading
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7401846.stm , and I also listened to most of the interview on Radio 4 this morning. Prime Minister Gordon Brown has said he is the right man to steer the country through difficult economic times.
...
Asked if he should stay in his job he said: "There are many people who could take over but I think I can steer this economy through difficult times."
"I have done it before and I can do it again," he told the BBC.
From where I stand, the Tories very probably will win the next election. If they don't win it outright, I can't see Labour winning a majority, so I guess a hung Parliament is a possibility - or a very narrow Conservative majority somehow, perhaps.
Question: do I trust George Osborne specifically (and David Cameron more generally) to take the right economic decisions? I have to say no. I certainly didn't agree with every one of Gordon's decisions, and he may be making a complete hash of being Prime Minister, but I still struggle to think of anyone on the Tory front bench I want running the economy.
Can I go to sleep and wake up in 2013 please?
