Today I finished reading John Steinbeck's
Of Mice and Men, and Robert Louis Stevenson's
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading both, and I've been inspired to read other books by both authors - especially Steinbeck.
I've also borrowed dvds of both from the library; I hope to watch them sometime this coming week.
I also read Nina Bangs' new Gods of the Night romance,
Eternal Cravings. It was okay. It just reminds me a lot of Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series.
I read Gena Showalter's
The Vampire's Bride, which is book 4 in her Atlantis series. I thought this was okay too. It also contained one of my odd pet peeves. Ms. Showalter decided to include Hestia, the Greek virginal goddess of the hearth, but she gave her the attitude/powers that one would expect from Aphrodite. I wish she would have stayed a little closer to actual myth, but it was nice to see an author address Hestia instead of bringing up only the more (in)famous goddesses (Hera, Athena, Artemis, Aphrodite). Anyways.. I can't wait until September, when the next installment of her Lords of the Underworld comes out.
I do hope that one of my favorite mythology/romance authors, P. C. Cast, will make Hestia a primary character in one of her stories. She has done this to other more obscure goddesses already.
