So, on Sunday I went to this exhibition at the Tate.  It really is pretty bloody stunning, too.  The pugilist in particular made me smile- a broad, wide grin that must have made the gentleman next to me worry that he was next to some idiot.  I think a large part of it is the incredibly beautiful way that the whole gallery is lit, the way that the statues are presented and the way that space is used to just create an ethereal atmosphere that suits the place down to the ground.  People were resting, eyes closed, by the statues and just occasionally looking up with gentle smiles .

I bought a copy of "Make do and mend" - advice I shall try to follow, so I will be learning to darn very soon.  Also bought a guide to the city churches.  The plan is to buy a small guidebook every month or two, and to try to vist all the sights/do all the walks before I buy the next.  Started that off with a visit to St Andrew Holborn yesterday morning.  It's modern inside, after it was destroyed in the Blitz, but is a beautiful Wren church from the outside and sympathetically restored within. I think when I do the walks, I'll do them camera in hand so that when I get a computer I can bore you all with them...
