I love being back in Richmond. Went to Richmond Live last weekend, saw loads of folks from school and The Buzzcocks, playing down on the Batts, although the bar ran out of Black Sheep far too early on the second night. On Sunday we walked up to Willance's Leap through Deepdale and all the wildflowers were out, so the whole area was stunning. The path is getting more precarious every time I go up - it's named for Robert Willance, who was a doctor living on my street in the seventeenth century. One evening, on his way to a house call, he and his horse went off the edge of the hill at what is now the Leap. He survived because he cut open his dead horse and kept his broken leg warm until he was spotted. He lost the leg, but wasn't buried himself for many years and so there are memorial stones at the very peak where he went off. It was the 400th anniversary last year.
Monday, we walked from Ravenscar to Robin Hood's Bay and back. I have some amazing photos to go on Flickr.
Anyone care to remind me that I have to go back to London in just over 7 weeks?
