I know I've been very free to share my complaints about pregnancy, but really it's not that bad! There are moments I love being pregnant. And truly there is nothing that compares to being able to feel Xavi all warm and safe and cozy in my belly -- We already have little games we play with each other, like the foot catching game. You know, it's funny how much people think "heavily, visibly pregnant = spontaneous labor OMG NOW". I blame television. Because seriously? Every television show I can think of has had at least one and sometimes dozens (ER, for example) of situations where a baby is suddenly delivered out of nowhere, in public, with no warning except suddenly a big preggo bellied lady just starts panting or bending funny and then there she is on her back with a baby coming out. Nowhere in the modern media do you see the many, many hours (sometimes days) that it takes.

I saw this especially from the terrified glances I got while actually having contractions just passing through the ER on my way to labor & delivery after 18 hours at the birth center. People saw me having contractions in a wheelchair and obviously thought I was just about to pop that baby out. The funny thing was that of course I *couldn't* actually deliver vaginally, and if I'd been able to, I wouldn't be at the hospital. The baby coming out spontaneously right then was among the least likely things to have happen at that moment.

So true. Folks don't really get how much it takes for the baby to exit your body. I think birth is rarely as dramatic (in the "whoops, there's a baby" sense) as it is portrayed in the media!!!

Yeah. Now if I saw a pregnant woman with a toddler actually looking like she were in active labor, I might see how she was doing, because apparently those 2nd, 3rd, etc. kids do slip out a lot faster (as you know). But still, almost never like on TV.
