Allergic Reaction! WHEEEE!!!

So, apparently, I am allergic to sulfa meds. For anyone who doesn't know, sulfa is a substance found in antibiotics such as Septra. Due to a nasty sinus infection, I was prescribed 2 weeks of septra. Week one went well enough. I was still sniffly, but at least I could breath. Then I noticed some spots on my forearms Monday morning. Monday afternoon the tops of my arms were bright red down to my elbows, and I had red spots all over the tops of my forearms and chest.
By Wednesday (yes, I had stopped taking the med on Monday)it was a full-blown allergic reaction. I was bright red with raised hives on my arms, chest, back and face and I had spots on my stomach and legs. Oh, and my face and lips were all swollen.
So I saw one of the PA's down in the same-day clinic at work and she gave me some antihistamine samples. The damn rash is finally nearly all gone with just a little bit of a 'dry-skin' type of itch. When it was full blown, it felt like a really bad sunburn. When it was healing, it itched like skin pealing after a really bad sunburn.
You know.... This blows. Back home, I wasn't allergic to ANYTHING and I almost never got sick. Now I have a whole slough of nasal allergy, and now a drug allergy, and I get sinus infections at least twice a year. I'm really starting to hate Washington. >;P
