Chantix... Day 2

Jul 30, 2010 09:22

No, there is no Day 1 post because nothing happened on Day 1 other than putting a pill in my mouth and being super uncomfortable with doing so.

Day 2 however, is a different story. I took the pill an hour ago and I'm feeling very very anxious and shaky. My vision seems a bit tunnel but I can't tell if all of this is because of the meds themselves, my anxiety over taking it or just getting over a fun bout of IBS.

Just so you all know, Chantix is a stop smoking drug with some serious holy hell what the fuck have I gotten myself into side effects. Usually, it only hits 1% of the population but it's still got me nervous.  Here's what it says the side effects are:

First, the normal physical stuff...
The most common side effects include nausea (30%), sleep problems, constipation, gas and/or vomiting.

Second, the physical scary stuff...
Some people can have serious skin reactions while taking CHANTIX, some of which can become life-threatening. These can include rash, swelling, redness, and peeling of the skin. Some people can have allergic reactions to CHANTIX, some of which can be life-threatening and include: swelling of the face, mouth, and throat that can cause trouble breathing. If you have these symptoms or have a rash with peeling skin or blisters in your mouth, stop taking CHANTIX and get medical attention right away.

Next, the mental stuff that's kinda ok but not really...
You may have trouble sleeping, vivid, unusual, or strange dreams while taking CHANTIX. Use caution driving or operating machinery until you know how CHANTIX may affect you.

Now for the holy hell what the fuck have I gotten myself into side effects...
Some people have had changes in behavior, hostility, agitation, depressed mood, suicidal thoughts or actions while using CHANTIX to help them quit smoking. If you, your family, or caregiver notice agitation, hostility, depression, or changes in behavior, thinking, or mood that are not typical for you, or you develop suicidal thoughts or actions, anxiety, panic, aggression, anger, mania, abnormal sensations, hallucinations, paranoia, or confusion, stop taking CHANTIX and call your doctor right away.

Can you tell why I'm anxious now? Everyone I work with and the boyfriend all know I'm on it and will help to look out for any crazy symptoms and I'll continue to post here just so I can make sure I'm not losing my mind.

*shudder*
