Lord Jones, I have finished with your book. When would be a convenient time to return it to you?

[She glances down at the copy of the play in her lap.]This has been a - a most insightful play. Inaccurate in regard to details, but accurate in spirit, I think. Though I can but hope Lord Shakespeare has misrepresented my Romeo's actions near the ( Read more... )

[She can guess that Juliet isn't really as composed as she seems; no one could be, after reading a story like that, and knowing it relates to them somehow. Even if it's a story of a distant past, or another world, it's a shock. So Usagi is tactfully quiet when she replies.]

Do you want to hang out awhile? [She offers distraction.] We could work on something while we talk. [She offers an open ear. And arms for hugs.]

[Usagi would be guessing correctly on that.]

I - I would like that, yes.

[And while her rare tactful streak continues, she asks:]

Is now alright?

Now would be fine. You are welcome to come here for a visit, if you like. I am sure Spike will not mind.

Mm. And it'll be better to have friends around, won't it?

[That's.. pretty much all that gets her through her own hard times.]

I'll be there in just a minute. [In fact, she's already tugging a heavy jacket on.]

Indeed.

[It's been a while since Usagi was over to her home - not since Bubbles' party? So she makes sure to send coordinates again, just in case.]

Be careful out in the cold, Usagi. I shall put the kettle to boil, that we may have some tea.

[This is always a safe bet where Usagi's concerned. The coordinates are appreciated.

Tea sounds delicious, and it definitely helps keep her going instead of grumbling (too much, anyway) about the cold. Besides, she's going to see Juliet; that makes it worth it. And Juliet... could use a friend. That makes it definite.

Before long, there's a knock at the door before Usagi tests it.]

Juliet?

[Juliet's been tending the fire and preparing things for tea in the meantime. The knock, and the kind voice on the other side of the door, bring a smile to her face, and she hurries to let her friend come in out of the cold.]

Usagi. It is good to see you.

You, too! [Usagi steps fully into the house, and closes the door quietly behind her.]

Need any help with all that?

Let me take your coat.

[She'll tuck it away in the cupboard in the kitchen where she keeps her cloak, so Carina can't make a nest out of it.]

If you would not mind checking to see if the water has boiled? There are a few things I am still sorting for snacks.

I'll get it! [Cheerfully, she hands over the coat and checks the boiling water.]

Almost! It has tiny bubbles already, so it'll be ready soon!

[The coat gets tucked away on top of her cloak, and as she's arranging the odd crackers she found in December onto a plate, she smiles.]

Excellent!

[She brings her tray in, with not just the crackers, but a few figs (also a result of December's odd food appearing) and a little jar of jam - red, with no label.]

Do you like figs, Usagi?

They look kind of like persimmons, don't they? [Usagi grins.] So they're probably delicious!

They do, a little. They are something we enjoy in Verona. And our ancestors, the Romans, enjoyed them as well.

[She sets the tray down on a little table and pulls out the bags of tea and sets them into the cups she's already laid out on the hearth.]

I want to try them! [She is always up for good food. And here, fruit is pretty much the only sweet food it's easy to get.]

There are enough to share. I know not how well they go with tea, but I am certain they shall not disappoint.

[Fresh figs in winter? Definitely not a disappointment, as far as she's concerned.]
