005 - Accidental Video

[Juliet is pacing slowly up and down along a wall. She's bumped the PCD, which she'd set on a little table, and so it gets a good view of her retreating backside as she walks the length of the wall. She turns, and drifts back the way she'd come. In her arms, tucked against her chest, she cradles Bubbles' stuffed octopus. Dark circles show under ( Read more... )

[Because of course he hates seeing his dear Juliet distressed. Not that he has the slightest idea how to comfort her, but... They grew up together. He did so when she got hurt then, it shouldn't be much different now, right? So have, him coming over and placing a hand on her shoulder.]

Juliet? It... will be all right. [He doesn't sound too convinced himself. But he has to be strong for her if nothing else]

[She startles at the hand on her shoulder. Hearing Tybalt's voice, she lets her posture drop, and she turns to him, flinging her arms around his torso, and sobs onto his chest. Of anyone here, she can allow herself to cry in front of Tybalt. She feels safest when he is with her, and she cannot cry if she doesn't feel safe enough to do so, not with all of the madness outside.]

[He can do this, he can do this... But then she's flinging herself at him, and wrapping her arms around him and everything. She needs comfort. Just calming comfort. His brain knows this. But his body keeps getting distracted by her warmth, the feel of her pressed up against him.

Willpower. He has it. He can do this]

We'll make it through. I promise. Somehow.

[And he's sort of awkwardly trying to stroke her hair]

[She's aware of his hand stroking her hair and of the soothing words, but the comforting gestures only make her cling to him more tightly and cry harder. She's going to leave damp spots on his shirt from her sobbing. After so long of holding in all her fear, of trying so hard to be strong, she needs this moment of weakness.]

[He barely registers the dampness from her tears, his mind far more tangled up in preventing his body from reacting. He continues stroking her hair, and trying to make soothing noises. Its... sort of effective. He hopes]

[She stays pressed against him until there are no more tears to be shed. Sniffling, she lets go of his shirt with one hand to wipe at her eyes, the back of her hand brushing his chest as she does so. She keeps her head ducked against him and when she speaks, it is in a quiet voice, like a frightened child.]

What - what do we do?

[He sucks a breath as her fingers graze across his chest, shoving his mind forcefully away from memories of other fingers trailing across there, with far less clothing in the way. But he knows she doesn't mean it like that. Can't mean it like that, not his perfect, beautiful, unsullied Juliet. Especially not now.]

We... hope and pray I suppose.

[Because really, he has no clue either]

[Hope and pray. Exactly what Usagi had told her to do. She knows it is best, but the inability to truly act, only to only fret, is maddening.]

Can we do nothing more? Must we be content only to sit and hope and pray?

Neither of us are apothecaries, dear cos. Or surgeons. We can only keep ourselves safe and pray for those who have fallen.

[She looks up at him with her big, reddened eyes, and clutches his shirt more tightly.]

She cannot have fallen, Tybalt. She cannot! Usagi said that she could heal the child. She will be able to, won't she? Bubbles cannnot -

[And she stares at him imploringly. Tell her that Bubbles can't die, that she can be saved, Tybalt. She needs to hear it from you.]

I only meant in that have fallen ill. [Have some more hair-petting]

Hope and pray. It's all we can do.

[She rests her head against his chest again when he starts petting her hair.]

I hate this. I hate this waiting and being unable to do anything of use. I cannot even handle a needle; my fingers tremble when I try to thread it. I need to do something, Tybalt.

Restlessness he can understand. Hasn't he been feeling it since they arrived?]

If it weren't so dangerous, I would suggest we take a walk.

I have done nothing but walk, cos. I have walked up and down the length of this room, trying to calm my mind, and it has had little effect.

I meant outside. It's one thing to pace a room and another to walk around outside. [Read: Stalk the streets looking for Montegues to stab. What? It's what he does when he's upset

After a long pause,]

I am worried about her as well. Such a young child...

[That gets her attention. Outside. Out of the rapidly shrinking walls and the feeling of worry the house seems to press upon her.]

Is there not a garden here we might walk in? The fresh air may do us good.

[Hearing that Tybalt is worried as well brings fresh tears to her eyes, and she lifts a hand to stroke his cheek.]

Forgive me, cos. I had not considered the pain her suffering was causing you. I have been selfish. We should have spent more of our time together here, that we could console each other.
