There is fabric in her hands, which she dunks up and down in the water repeatedly, then scrubs against itself. It's laundry day in the Capulet household, and she's doing the best she can without much soap.]Only three more to go. When I get ( Read more... )

[Have a sympathetic, if somewhat put-upon, sigh.]

Need dry clothes? Take a bath, too, you'll feel better.

[She offers a smile to the other young lady, even while squeezing water from her skirts.]

Thank you for your kind offer, miss. I should be all right to return home. It isn't far, and I have one change of clothing that did not need washing today.

The river is fond of people, it seems.

Oh. That's good! Make sure not to catch cold or anything.

I will try not to. I think I would frighten my cousin were I to become ill. I don't think I shall stay out for much longer. The rest of the laundry can wait for another day.

Right! You shouldn't do too much work at once or you'll wear yourself out!

[This young lady is so cheerful, Juliet finds herself liking her immediately.]

Very wise advice, miss.

[She dips her head in greeting.]

I am Juliet. It is a pleasure to meet you.

It means 'rabbit'. Don't make jokes, please. [She grins sheepishly; apparently she's quite to used to such jokes.]

Rabbit? In which language? It is not a word I've heard before.

[She looks solemnly at the other young lady.]

I would not tease, Usagi. I give you my word.

I have only recently learned of Japan. I am from Verona, and have learned little of the world beyond its borders. In that regard, this place has been most enlightening.

Mm! Some of my friends here are from Japan, too! What's Verona like?

How fortunate to have friends here from home! My cousin Tybalt is here with me. It helps quite a lot, does it not?

Verona is - interesting. It is a lively place, with many reckless youths and high passions. I love my home, but there are times I wish it would be a little more tranquil. The Prince does his best to keep things calm.

Just like a prince should. [She gives a contented, happy sigh.]

He does try. He is a good and fair ruler. His nephews are not so wise as he, but perhaps in time they will learn.

[She catches that sigh.]

You have romantic notions about princes, Usagi?
