update
I just thought I'd let you all know what's been going on w/me lately. . .I'm in the worst financial state I've ever been in. . .The throat surgery I had last summer (08) is really costing me! Ok, so I've been going to the dr's for yrs, & for yrs, I've just been paying a flat fee to cover evertyhing. And, the dr's office will send me these monthly statements updating me on my account & such. Anyway, I tend not to open the envelopes from the hospital, as I know they are all dealing w/the account I'm constantly paying on, right? Well, wrong. . .
Apparently, they sent out an envelope w/a completely seperate bill for the surgery alone, & I wasn't aware of it. Silly me. So, since I've haven't paid anything on that particular bill, the hospital turned the account over to an atty who's having my salary garnished. 25% of every pay-check is gone before I even see it! Way more than I can afford, natch. . .
So, I haven't had a positive bank account balance since June. . . I haven't had my phone turned on since June, either. . .I have a speeding ticket which is supposed to be paid for this week, & I can't afford it, & I haven't been able to afford to pay to keep my car insurance updated, either. So, it looks like here in about another week I'll be driving on a suspended licence, w/no insurance. . .But, there's no other way to get to & from work.
So, the other day I went to a food pantry & stocked up as best I could. First time in 5 yrs I've had to do that. . .damn it. . .
I've delcared bankrupcy, & should be getting the garnishment reduced to $40 a check, much more managable, but I'm not sure when that'll take effect. So, meantime, I'm begging everyone & anyone that can help me out to please do so. It really sucks knowing that my Mom & older brother are both now permanently out of the picture, not they could really help me out. . .
I guess I'm going to have to swallow my pride, & ask my dad's girlfriend for help, knowing that I already owe her something like $550 from a loan a few yrs back. . .But, what else can I do?
