A Favor, if You Will...

Friends and Mateys,

I just read a story tonight that cut me to the core.  Though many of us have been blessed in many ways, there are still some things in this life that I cannot simply sit back and let pass.  There are things that I simply won't stand for, and this is one of them.

You see, my friends, there is a child named Hannah Garman, who is four years old and dying of brain tumors.  She has already had two surgeries, and her outlook is still bleak.  Her doctors say that if she undergoes radiation treatment, she has about 11 months.  If she does not, she has 2-3 months.

Now that alone broke my heart, but what shattered it into dust was finding out that all the poor child has asked for this Christmas, when she could have asked for anything, was simply Christmas cards, because she's confined to bed and this is one of the few things she can enjoy.

My friends, I cannot tolerate this.  And you shouldn't tolerate it, either.

If you wish to read the rest of the story, to confirm this is not a hoax, here's your link to MSNBC.com for the whole story.

Many of you who will read this are Christians.  If you are, I shouldn't have to say anymore.  You know what the Book says, and so do I.  The rest of you either are of different faith, are Agnostic, or Athiest.  That's fine by me, because if you are my friend you're a good person, and believe in things like Goodness and Mercy.

Well, folks, here's your chance.  The child wants Christmas cards, and by thunder Christmas cards she shall have.

It isn't a big expense.  Just a few bucks and a postage stamp will make this child's last Christmas full of the magic that children deserve.  Just a few dollars, a stamp, and some spent ink.  I know you can do it.

Mail them to:

Not only will this entry be on LiveJournal, but it'll be posted to Facebook, Myspace, and will be sent to all of those in my email address book.  I couldn't live with myself if I did anything less.

So I implore you, my friends and mateys, from the bottom of my heart, please do what you can.  Get the word out to your friends and family.

Let's give Hannah a blessing for Christmas.
