Nice and refreshing film with Eddie Robinson playing a timid bank clerk. For fourteen years he's worked at the bank where his brother-in-law works, cow-towing to his wife's demanding demeanor. All he really wants is to feel useful and open a fix-it shop. Something his wife is opposed to since it is beneath his station and hers. Ah, saved by Uncle Sam, our Mr. Winkle is drafted for the war. Even in the Army they want to make him a desk clerk. He finally puts his foot down and asks his sergeant for re-assignment. He finally ends up being a hero.
