While helping my roommate clean up the basement, I came across several really old hard drives.  I tried using my primative data recovery equipment, but I couldn't even initialize the drives.  They were dead dead dead.  But they still could contain data accessable through more exhaustive means, so I decided to render them permenantly unreadable.  ( Read more... )

Physical destruction is my method of choice too. But I generally use a hammer. A few months ago I thought a laptop drive had metal platters, but they were glass and made more of a mess to clean up.

I'd love to see what the slug looked like post-impact.....looks like it mushroomed quite a bit, which is probably why it didn't penetrate.

The bullet was solid lead, so it smooshed pretty flat.
