A flood of the small-statured creatures poured into the room. "Soothsayer! Soothsayer!" They cried as they rushed to attend to it's needs. "We're being attacked, we must protect you!"

If situations were different, the Doctor would've thought this whole scene as rather comical, but those eyes were locked onto his, filled with anger despite the ushering of leaving of its keepers. "Betrayal!" It snarled.

"I didn't betray you!" He stepped forward, but Donna promptly tugged him back begging him to go. "I didn't know they'd find me so quickly!"

"Jealously!" The soothsayer broke away from the little arms of the creatures trying to help it as it pounded out a drum-like beat in four's on the wooden floor.

"How--? What does that mean!?" Donna was tugging him harder, more urgently, successfully pulling him backwards.

Everything was happening so quickly, the creatures pulling and tugging at their soothsayer, crying for it to let them save it. Donna begging the Doctor to stop being foolish and stubborn and to please leave.

The candles toppled over to the floor now from all the movement, causing all parties to go their respective ways. "Tell me what to do!" The Doctor questioned as Donna finally pulled him from the room and pulling him to follow her as they ran out the way they came.

The whole thing was a bit of a blur to be honest. Donna was vaguely aware of dragging the Doctor and begging him to leave and the chaos and yelling going on around them. It was almost as though it happened in slow motion or she was watching someone else play out the scene.

That beating though. It was stuck in her head. It sounded so familiar but she couldn't place why.

It was the Doctor's voice that snapped her back to reality. As though a veil had been removed and reality smacked her around the face. "Huh?" Oh... he needed her to be the strong one? Bugger. But she could do this. She could be strong. She cupped his cheeks, tilting his face to look at her. "We do what we do best. We run."

The question had been directed to the soothsayer, wanting a last minute piece of advice but it very much applied to Donna as well. He was avoiding her gaze when she cupped his face in her hands, and he finally met her gaze. "That would be best."

His hand slid into hers as they did exactly that - run. He let her lead as his mind was still muddled with everything that had happened, the teeth, blood red glare, everything of the soothsayer playing in his mind and finally he picked up speed and was leading them.

Once outside the soothsayer's lair (for lack of better terms), they had to duck and hide as the inhabitants ran past them, no doubt rushing to save their beloved soothsayer. And before Donna could say 'TARDIS' he pulled her towards the outskirts of the city and towards the door, but once there, something told him not to do so. "Not this one." Almost too quickly, he tugged Donna in the opposite way, through the tree forest city. "There's another door..."

Eep. Could she have her shoulder back please, Doctor? She almost tripped over her feet as she turned and struggled to keep up with him. "But the TARDIS is through that door... Doctor? Why can't we go through that one? What's out there?"

Her hand slipped from his as she fell behind, but she didn't stop, she carried on running, not wanting to get left behind, or lost in the chaos. She was so busy concentrating on not losing the Doctor, that she collided with one of the inhabitants, who was less than happy about it. It swiped at her, yelling all kinds of things, drawing the attention of others nearby.

Uh oh. She got up and started to run again, as fast as her feet would carry her!

"Because," He looked over his shoulder and slowed down a touch for her to catch up, "If we walk out there, they might be waiting. We'll have to make a large hike around to the TARDIS." He hated this idea as much as she did, but they had no choice.

He paused with his back against a tree trunk as he fought to catch his breath and allow his brain to catch up as well. "Think... Think..." He muttered thoughts over, hands messing through his hair, and finally he pointed to their right.

"Past that way, let's go!"

"What did the soothsayer mean about jealousy and what was with that drumming? I swear, I've heard that some place, but I dunno where." Donna forced her feet to keep moving onwards, forced her lungs to keep working.

If they made it back to the TARDIS in one piece? She was crawling into bed and staying there for a whole Earth week, no ifs, buts or maybes.

"I don't know." He recalled the soothsayer drumming those beats before, but he never caught the significance, and the jealousy thing he'd have to mull over at a later time.

Just off the platform there was a spiral staircase, and the Doctor slowed down and descended. Just for this moment, he'd go slow, seeing as Donna was quite tired, and he'd admit he was as well.

"There's alot I need to figure out," And he chuckled, "There's plenty of gaps in the data we've collected."

"Well then, looks like we'll have to fill those gaps in." She followed after him, keeping a few steps behind him. "So, what's the plan? Leg it to the TARDIS, float around space and try to figure things out? Because, y'know, that hasn't been too successful for us so far."

Helpful, Donna. Real helpful. "Don't you have some kind of timey-wimey-rip-in-time detector we could use? You have rubbish for just about everything else..."

"I'd have to create one." It was possible, but with the pressure of everything around him, it'd be complicated.

"I just..." His voice trailed off for a moment as he continued downwards, his mind wandering back to Rose briefly, echoes of her laugh, her smile, remembering her promises of 'forever'. Why had this happened? Why did she allow it to happen? Did she allow it or was it all him? And then, what the bloody hell was he thinking!?

Irritation built up and he began moving faster until they reached the base that lead to another door.

Maybe that's just what happened to girls when you dumped them in parallel worlds with clones of yourself. Donna would probably tear down the walls of the universe to smack him around the face too - even if it had been for the best, and the other Doctor had been so lovely. Maybe the other Doctor had abandonment issues - after all, his pseudo-parents had dumped him on a beach in the middle of nowhere with Rose and family and just left him there.

"Oi! Slow down!" Donna huffed and forced herself to move faster to keep up with him. "We're not all skinny streaks of nothing, y'know!"

Through the door they went, exiting unfortunately into what appeared to be a cave of some sort? It was rather cold and dark. "Oh lovely." He muttered as he took Donna's hand. The last thing they needed was to lose each other in this sensory deprivation.

Somewhere out there, this whole situation had to be a metaphor for his life. And it was frustratingly so, given that he couldn't even tell which cardinal direction they were going. Moving to place a hand on a wall, he walked in the only direction they really had an option for. After a few steps, he pulled on his sonic, tapped it a few times, and attempted to see if there were any light sources available to them.

She clung to his hand. Dark spaces made her uneasy after recent events, and understandably so. "Can't you just use it as a torch? Or don't you have a torch in your pocket? You have everything but the kitchen sink in those pockets, you must have a torch or sommat useful... Right?"

She suddenly flailed and tripped over herself, crashing into him with a squeak before steadying herself. "Sorry, sorry... I thought I felt something on my leg..."

"Mm yeah, but it's broken." And at her comment, he aimed his sonic towards her leg, analyzing.

"They've sent scouters." He dug in his pocket to find said torch. Maybe he could adjust it some... There! Light! And a flurry of bats were awakened, causing both of them to startle as they swarmed above.

"Now's our chance to leave! The bats will disrupt the scouter signals!"
