A Poem from my English 130 class
I had to read this poem by Dante (Alighieri), and I'm glad I did. It got me thinking.
Because you know you're young in beauty yet
And stir the mind to Love you once look toward,
With pride like stone your [fellow] heart is barred.
You turn a proud and stonelike face to me
Because you feel my death is worth a try:
I think that you have done it just to see
Whether by force of Love a [woman] can die.
But though you find none loves you more than I,
For grief I bear, you show me no regard.
Love take you then, and let his rule be hard.
I think it's pretty self-explanatory. The fact that You're beautiful does not give You the right to break girls' hearts. Just because You can doesn't mean You should.
Anyway, now I have become the LiveJournal user that I spoke so disparagingly of not a month ago. I have now posted at least once a day for the past few days. :( It makes me sad.
