So I had another round of 'talks' with my dad which involved figuring out where I'm going with my career. Now, I remember not too long ago when I was talking about the same exact thing except that I was still in school.
This time it was talking about the option of going for a Masters or going to portfolio school. The option for the Masters will be staying at my current job and being a part-time student and going to OU or Walsh for an MBA. However, being a part-time student bothers me because it will take me probably one year longer to finish up for a Masters rather than going full-time. But if I wanted to hang on to my current job, I would have to be part-time.
The option with portfolio school is not having a job, going down to Chicago for a very narrow career-driven education and then hoping to find a job that I am truly interested in after that schooling is done. I want to do it because I'm interested in that field. I'm also wondering if I stick around with my company, can I manage to make it down to Chicago through them and since portfolio school is held at night, I could work down there. The problem is that with the merger, I don't know if I will even have a chance to make it down to the brokerage/marketing office that is down in Chicago.
So many questions and possibilities are running through my head. I'm just going to have to research my options.
