Bah, another Matthew Bourne ballet that I never knew anything about, despite its rapturous reception at the Edinburgh Festival in 2008: http://www.new-adventures.net/productions/doriangray. And also alas, because unlike his Swan Lake, this one is unavailable on DVD.
The production reminds me of Will Self's novel Dorian, published 2002, which was set in more modern times (the 1980s) with the artist Basil Hallward as a photographer rather than a portrait painter. Here's the ballet Basil trying to take that perfect portrait shot...
