Wild speculations, or The Regent made me do it

Hi guys. New CP fan and community member here.
While still dazed, on my first 24h with no new chapter and reading entries here like an addict, I'm trying to think of possible plot twists and outcomes.

I don't think that this had previously been discussed, but if I'm wrong please correct me.
It occurred to me that the Regent might be the mastermind of the whole thing. Before you lock me in a padded cell and throw away the key, hear me out *puppy Damen eyes*

The Regent is, as we know, ruthless and cunning. We're almost sure that he got rid of his King and the heir, leaving alive only the younger and easier to manipulate prince. It's also obvious that he knows Damen's identity, since he pretends to be kind and caring in front of him, a facade he keeps for the courtiers while he doesn't give a damn about the slaves.
"Now" (during CP's dramatic time), he either has plans to invade Akielos or simply doesn't want a constant threat. So, he helps Kastor to get rid of his King and the legitimate heir, knowing that he'll have a hard time maintaining the power. He asks Kastor to deliver Damen as a slave, promising that thus his "future King" nephew will be appeased for his brother's death and won't seek further revenge from Akielos. That explains why Damen remains alive. Kastor is vindictive, but not the planning ahead kind (he tried to kill 13 y.o. Damen, but openly and directly). The Regent thus kills two birds with one stone: he'll get rid of a capable leader (D. changed the outcome of the fight in Marlas) and his nephew at the same time. L. has obviously seen D. (perhaps he watched unnoticed the negotiations at Marlas) and hates him with a passion, so the Regent expects him to react impulsively (which he partly does). While the rest of the Rabatians, especially so far from the border, will not conceive of the possibility that the slave is the prince-killer, it's unlikely that L. will fail to recognise the brother-killer (and it's possible that D. has an unusual feature or mark, besides his scars, which we don't know about). Like Laurent, the R. hasn't predicted Damen's honourable nature, expecting him to try to kill L. at the first chance he'll get and, when he realizes his error, he repeatedly tries to have Damen killed.

He might have hoped that D. would "take care" of the L. "problem" for him but he has also planned further. The raids he ordered are designed to provoke the Akielons into retaliation. Akielons will fight both Rabatians and the Patrans L. has gathered. Laurent, if he's still alive, will be trapped between two enemy armies and killed and at the same time Akielos' alliance with Patras will dissolve, leaving the Regent free reign in both internal and external affairs.

So, does any of this seem possible, or should I just go dunk my head in cold water?
