1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 4-7 sentences on your LJ along with these instructions.
5. Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest (unless it's too troublesome to reach and is really heavy.)

Solubility of brucite (Mg(OH)2) in pure water at 25C as a function of pH. Mg(OH)2 dissociates to form MgOH+ and Mg2+ ions, whose activities in a saturated solution are strongly pH dependent, as given by equations 9.73 and 9.74. The resulting solubility of brucite is the sum of the concentrations of the Mg-bearing ions in the solution and is indicated by the dashed line. The coordinates of point P on the diagram represent conditions that will cause brucite to precipitate. The straight lines representing activities of Mg2+ and Mg(OH)+ have been arbitrarily terminated at unit activities because in nature other Mg compounds will precipitate at elevated concentrations of Mg ions.

Excerpt taken from Principles and Applications of Geochemistry, 2nd Edition by Gunter Faure.

These are the kinds of books I keep in my office here at work. In case any new friends are wondering, I work at a drinking water/ waste water testing facility and have a degree in Geology. So the Geochem book is a hold over from my college days.

In other news...working two jobs (resulting in 50-60 hours of work) to make ends meet is tiring and kinda sucks. I can't wait until my vacation starts Sunday the 22nd and I head to camp.
