1. Citizen Soldier - 3 Doors Down: I've spent a lot of time with my father recently talking about how he feels now that he joined the American Legion's local post and what his thoughts are about being a veteran of the Vietnam War. This song makes me think of him, especially these lyrics Hope and pray that you'll never need me/ but rest assured I will not let you down/ I walk beside you but you may not see me/ the strongest among you may not wear a crown. I also happen to think that the video they made for the National Guard using this song is phenomenal.
2. Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It) - Beyonce: I can't not bop my head and think of a certain person when this song comes on. Just makes me want to get up and dance.
3. Colossus - Afro Celt Sound System: This song, hell all of the songs on their Further In Time cd is what I blared when I had to work on either my senior thesis or any other papers that I needed to write my senior year of college. It just has a driving beat that makes me focus on what I'm writing.
4. Home - Marc Broussard: I fell in love with this song that first time I heard it back in 2005. I'd been listening to a new local station after catching a Carbon Leaf concert in the hopes to hear more of their music when this song came on. I had no idea who the artist was, only that the voice sounded a lot like Johnny Lang's. I've been in love with this song since and it's the main ringtone when anyone calls me on my cell phone.
5. King of New Orleans - Better Than Ezra: I can't not bop my head and sing along to this song when I play it in the car.
6. Again - Needtobreathe: There just aren't words to tell how much I love this song.
7. The Night Pat Murphy Died - Great Big Sea: I listened to this song a lot before hearing about Kim Manners death, now I've just been listening to it a lot more.
