So...snow day anyone?

We had a nice little snow squall move through the Champlain Valley this afternoon. I think all told we got maybe an inch and a half worth of fluffy white stuff. But it's the damn wind that caused the most problems. Blowing snow is never fun to drive in, and anyone on my flist who has had the good fortune to drive through a white out knows what I mean.

Doesn't make things any better when the county I live in, and most of New York State for that matter, has adopted a new policy when it comes to plowing roads this winter. To cut back on the amount of money they pay out in over time, most townships aren't sending plows out on the road until after the snow has stopped. Because apparently it's better to let people drive off the road and possibly maim/ kill themselves than to take money out of a place in the budget where it isn't such a critical need. Say...the mayor's personal expenses budjet. Oh wait, I forgot, it's more important for him to carry a credit card with a huge limit than it is to make sure essential county services like DPW and Emergency Services have the money they need to get shit done.

We lost power for a little while there too. It's a good thing I have enough candles to light a small mansion because I can't for the life of me find my flashlight. I had the thing this summer when we lost power during a thunderstorm, but now it's just MIA.

I also think I need to get new tires for my car. Betty spent a good portion of time spinning her tires today when she should have been able to take off without a problem.

random chatter, snow
