Quitting WoW and Stuff
With the epicfailz of the raid in general and the enthusiasm I've been throwing at AVCon, I've pretty much left WoW at the sidelines. After not playing it for a long time, I found that the program no longer has the hold over me as it once did. I'll play every so often, but I no longer feel the need to.
Speaking of AVCon, all is going quite well. Network TEN Adelaide are our primary sponsor from who we're getting a professionally produced TV commercial that will get a three week campaign leading up to the convention. TAFESA has jumped on board for a major sponsor slot, meaning that we now have the extra funding we needed for the RockBand stage. Still have about a dozen exhibition booths to sell but they should disappear in the next month.
Bit sad that we've had to drop 4k off our 10k prize budget, but that money is needed elsewhere. Funny how every year I committee it up for AVCon, I learn a new committee role that I'm essentially not doing at all. Although even conservatively, we're breaking even at 2500 ppl after paying back loans and the post-costs.
I'm very happy how some of our promotional stuff has turned out.. they should be printed early next week.

Got about 4 bus shelter posters going up as well. Not too sure what we're going to spend the rest of our advertising budget on this close. Might be best to save it for an emergency.
We've also got ourselves some office desk space in a business incubator.. super cheap... like under a 1k for a years rent. Access to boardroom, gamesroom, kitchen etc.
Now all we need is lots and lots of tickets being bought from PulpFiction and GameTraders before July. So if you haven't gotten a ticket yet... please get one. You can get them through BASS.net.au as well but we actually get the money upfront if you buy from the previous two.
Just need to find some supercheap HD LCD/Plasmas now so we can fill out the games hall with similar looking stuff. Maybe I'll just buy 10k worth and let the con pay me back over time. =P
