that was unexpected

Unexpectedly spent the day in NYC. (Backstory: A asked me to a play and I agreed thinking she was talking about the play on campus; much to my surprise she was not.)

Got to see a free show which was rather good (although the lighting design made me want to beat the designer over the head with his own blatant metaphors), had irish pub for lunch, and then farmer's market. I got some awesome honeycrisp apples, some blackberries and an enormous bunch of sweet basil. All my belongings smell delicious now.

We then spent like 3 hours in Strand. <3 I was tempted to get a compendium of Edward Gorey's postcards, but I restrained myself (and my wallet). I did pick up a massive Taschen history-of-costume-design book, which will be immensely helpful this year, as well as a collection of Murakami's short stories and Wittgenstein's Mistress. Heavy to carry home though; I think my shoulders have separated from my body.

Consequently, I got no work done (including _not_ painting the theatre), meaning I will be working my butt off tomorrow. And doing laundry. Hello, no more pairs of clean socks.
