The worst thing you can do is to fill your stomach all the way to the top.
(Maimonides ) One-third of your stomach should be filled with food, one-third of your stomach should be filled with drink, and one-third should be filled with anger. (Gemara) So, never fill more than 2/3 of your stomach. When you are full, stop eating.
When you eat, be in a relaxed position. (Maimonides) Do not eat while on the go or while standing. Do not eat while traveling in the car. If you recline, recline on your left side. Sitting is acceptable.
Eat foods in a certain order. Eat lighter foods first. (Maimonides) If you have had a loss of blood, eat red meats.
Honey is good. (Maimonides) Wine is good. (Maimonides). Use in moderation. Do not give to younger children. Please note that the wine here is like Magen David kosher wine - very sweet.
It is especially good to eat these in winter. Eat less of these in summer.
Wash vegetables and fruits. Make sure insects are not present.
Any illness that can be treated by diet should not be treated by anything else. (Maimonides) It is a religious obligation to have a proper diet. (Maimonides)
Mediterranean Diet: coarse breads, cucumbers, olive oil, avocado, red wine, salads, lean meats, vegetables, fruits, etc., such as at Dimassi’s Restaurant in The Woodlands, Texas. Eat low on the glycemic index scale. Eat low in saturated fats. Eat high in fiber.

DIASPORA WARNING: These statements were made about people who live in the Middle East and we do not live there, hence, take these “rules” as historical. Our environment has changed and we do not always have clean foods and water as may have been possible thousands of years ago. It is possible that things written long ago were applicable then and may not be applicable today as our environment has changed. This does not mean it ceases to be true.
