Pro Wrestling Combine, Etc.

I posted this on the burninghammer, and thought I'd share it here as well:

"Hello Hammer,

I've been out in California for a few months now, and thought I'd give everyone back home a shout out! Hope all is well back east!

Firstly, I'd like to plug my good friend/trainer/mentor's interview on 57talk.com, here is the link: http://57gold.com/57cp/media/antonio-1mp3.mp3
It's a great interview! I learned things about Antonio's career I never knew, and we're pretty close. Definitely a good listen!

Secondly, I've seen a great deal of talk on the ole hammer lately regarding what places are good for training, and what places suck. I can only give my opinions of the places I've trained at/the people I've trained with. I trained at Kevin Landry/Antonio Thomas' Pro Wrestling Combine. It was a great time, and I learned a lot! At the combine I trained under Kevin, Antonio, Jonny Idol, Dr. Heresy, and Aaron Morrisson(while he was still there). These guys taught me so much! I also had the good fortune at the Combine, to train with Billy King, Frankie Arion, Marshall McNeill, and the Alumni Club. All of these guys are regulars there, and have different things to offer to an up-and-coming wrestler, in terms of physically learning the wrestling, as well as learning psychology. Another great thing about the Pro Wrestling Combine, is that they bring in guys like Terry Taylor, Kevin Kelly, an others to run camps. The opportunity to learn from these people is something that any wrestler should take advantage of! The Combine also works with other local schools, like Bob Evans' Slamtech, as well as Bruiser Costas' School!

I know that I'm only a couple years into my career, so some may not see my opinion as that important, but I'll share my experience with everyone so they can judge for themselves. Through the wrestlers at the Combine (Specifically Billy King, Jonny Idol, and Antonio Thomas) I was able to get booked all over New England during my first year and a half or so. The experience gained on those shows allowed me to work in other places as well. During a vacation in California I trained for a couple nights at New Wave Pro Wrestling's school in San Diego, CA. This was an eye-opening experience, as I was able to hang in there with wrestlers I'd never met before, some 3,000 miles from anywhere I'd ever worked before! Joey Eastman was kind enough to bring me along to Chicago and get me booked there. Not long after, I moved away to California, and started training out here at BTW's (no relation to Terry Allen's BTW) Wrestleplex. When I started training there, after a couple practices the head trainer remarked to me "Well kid, you got your money's-worth at that school in New England!" Since then I've been booked throughout California, as well as in Nevada.

This is a long-winded story, but there is a point, and here it is: I was prepared. No matter where I went to wrestle, or who I stepped in the ring with, I was prepared to wrestle, and could hang with anybody. I put this entirely on the training I received from Kevin, Antonio, Idol, and everyone else. In my adult life, I've never competed in any sport other than Professional Wrestling, so I certainly don't think you could pin my ability to wrestle anyone anywhere on my own athletic ability. I did dedicate myself to the training, coming to EVERY class early, and always being the first in the ring to work on stuff, but that's like an education anywhere, you get out what you put in. The training at the Pro Wrestling Combine prepared me physically, and mentally to wrestle all over the country, and have good matches with anyone, wrestling any style.

Bottom Line: I can only give my experience for everyone to read, and in my experience the Pro Wrestling Combine's training was worth every penny, and every second I spent there. I also learned a great deal from Bob Evans, who was kind enough to offer his two-cents after matches I had in front of him, as well as inviting me to the various camps he ran.

I owe a huge debt of thanks to: Kevin Landry, Jonny Idol, Antonio Thomas, Billy King, Joey Eastman, Tony & Alex (The Alumni Club), Dr. Heresy, Aaron Morrisson, Marshall McNeill, Frankie Arion, and Bob Evans. You guys prepared me for this ridiculous journey, and for that I am eternally grateful!

Hugs & Headlocks, Love & Lucha,

~Perry Von Vicious"

An hour or so later I saw Joey Eastman posted this on facebook:

"Just read a long diatribe from Perry Von Vicious and it made me realize why I love wrestling."
