Hacking DNA presentation

The reason it should scare you is illustrated in how humans approach all technology: implement and figure out the details later.

Except the details in biology are things like our ecosystems or bodies. That you can do this in your garage on a table top and that there's little or no control, or ability to assert control, should be extremely alarming. That 15 years ago we couldn't, as humans, even sequence a bacteria and now 15 years later we can synthesize DNA directly from a list of base pairs should leave a sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach.
