The Good, the Bad and the Rose-y

Among the good things:

This very hectic past workweek ended without any major disasters. A major case finally got filed, and despite having a couple of its own hiccups, and being majorly involved in the technofuck of the past few weeks, I made it to the weekend with the case more or less on track. Appointments have been made, dates set, and I have a lot of mailing to do next week but that's manageable.  I haven't heard anything further on the other two cases I talked about a few entries back, so I'm not doing anything with them as of now and may not ever. Monday is a quiet day to get further caught up on things, and then I've got a mishmash of court appearances, pet appointments and a holiday party in Rochester with actual axe throwing!

Also good:  Zoey just passed the second anniversary of her cancer diagnosis, and these days is mostly dealing with flareups of a herpes condition. It makes it hard for her to breathe, and that results in her being limited in how much she can eat at one time. We’ve resumed medicating her with eyedrops that she hates, but this morning after the deed was done, she marched right over to where Eleanor was meditating, planted her self in front, and said, “Chant for me.” I took this picture of them on her phone:

Yes, there's a cat under there. Yes, she came right up to that spot on her own. Yes, she's gonna make it:)

The continuing annoyance in my life is the Spectrum email issue. (The bank fixed its issue with the constant two-factor nags, yay.)  Earlier this week, I tried one fix recommended by court IT people, which worked for about five minutes. Then I marched into a local Spectrum office, and modified a fix recommended by the "email guy" over there (after he literally told me, "Our email sucks, you should just use Gmail"), and that worked for about twenty minutes.

I have been reduced to reactivating my AOL email as a backup address so I get these damn things.  THOSE do go through, although the days of a permanent Personal File Cabinet on your own computer are long over and I have to keep refreshing the page and dodging endless ads and nags to get them.

Plus, now I'm gonna hear this in my sleep:

On the rosier side of life, that mystery flower in the link above, from earlier this week, is still up.  Through snow and rain and high winds and gloom of night, it’s still there. Winds are due to pick up even more this afternoon, to close to hurricane force (it's 67F here right now, in Buffalo, ten days before the Solstice, and cold and crap are right behind the winds). Still, what this has made it through so far, I like its chances:

As Beth Nielsen Chapman sang on her first album, “Life holds on, given the slightest chance.” So does Zoey.
