how about a sales tax such as NJ's whereby neccesities are untaxed, such as groceries and clothes.

i think the best feature to a flat tax comes in your rejection of it, a flat tax at the current levels of taxation would cause 99% of americans to pay more in taxes, however, that is if it is kept at the current level, one of the main reasons for going to a flat tax is so that ALL citizens would share an equal burden of taxes and would thus no longer support frivalous spending which they now think that rich people pay for.

44% of American families do not pay federal income tax so when they go to vote they of course vote for those willing to raise taxes cause it doesn't affect them. If taxes affected evey single american, every single american would want lower taxes.

of course taxes is not what the 108th congress got you so pissed over, and i'll have to agree with you that the law/spending bill just passed and the methods used to pass it are atrocious, though republicans did not invent this method, and not the only ones to use it. Real limited government would solve the problem, but thats not gonna be seen any time soon.

and though there is no right to privacy (for the most part) granted in the constitution does not mean there shouldnt be one. it seems that many an american would support the right to privacy so why does someone not formulate a plan to lobby for a constitutional ammendment guaranteeing a right to privacy? it should also reiterate that that the social security number is not to be used as a national identification number which it now is.
