Ability to Delude Self Not Limited To Right-Wing Headcases

Feb 03, 2004 14:24

Was listening to the local right-wing lunatic on the radio this morning. Today he was rabbiting on about the new Opposition Leader and his intention to sell Kirribilli House. This House is the most expensive House in Australia, overlooking the Harbour Bridge and Opera House, and is generally used by the Prime Minister to entertain foreign female visiting dignitaries. The House has been valued at $50 million.

Anyway, this nutter - whos name is Alan Jones - has had it in for the new Opp. Leader, Mark Latham, since he became leader. Today he was venting his spleen at Mark's "appauling" intention to sell the House. He said it was "childing", "vengeful", that the Average Australian wasn't poor, that the House is Public Property, etc, etc. What a dipshit. This from the fellow who uses the phrase "Aussie Battler" every second sentence.

Then he starts getting calls from his bitches. Always after he has a good rant his bitches call to say how very much they agree with him and how it's about time the majority had a voice and how the government should stop listening to minorites and how they'd like to have sex with him - ok, they don't say that, but it's implied.

Which brings me to my point. As I was lying there, appalled as usual by the arrogance and stupidity of the loonies on the radio, I formulated this wonderous and remarkable theory:

1. Anyone who agrees with me is in the majority.
2. Anyone who doesn't agree with me is in the minority.

This seems to me to be the way that most people think, not just right wing headcases. Then they use mathematics to "prove" they they are right:

The majority is bigger than the minority, therefore it must be right.

Hence,

I am right. Why can't you understand that?

Feel free to discuss my wonderous theory. But I should warn you, if you disagree with me, you're in the minority.
