Smallville Series Finale!

May 14, 2011 12:33

I usually don't write episode reviews of "Smallville" because I was never such a huge fan of that show as with "Supernatural", but since I do love it and it was time for the series final I thought why the heck not?

So here's my sort of review/squee-a-ton of the series finale of "Smallville"

One of the reasons why I never "joined" the Smallville fandom until the summer of 2010 was because it's about a superhero flying around with his undies on the outside. I am NO comics fan at all. The whole idea of guys in tight colorful suits makes me cringe and there has been a few moments like that in Smallville too. So where comics geeks and Smallville fans cheer when Clark finally wears the suit - I cringe lol. Can't do anything about that.

So obviously what I mostly loved about Smallville was the human parts. And I didn't mind the powers etc as long as there was no suits and hero team ups etc. It's the parts that gets too comics like I don't like. But obviously since Smallville was about Superman growing up there was more to like for me.

Ahem yeah so that was a short summary of me and Smallville hehe. That being said I have enjoyed season 10 and it was quite bittersweet to see the end of a ten year old show. It was time though seeing as there has been a few seasons that I think sucked.

I'll start with the obvious. Clark and Lois. They are so freakin' adorable. I love them! I don't give a rats ass about Superman or Lois or whatever in any other shows or movies, but in Smallville - oh my gosh Welling and Durance are so beautiful together! XD I've never been attracted to Welling, but boy he has gotten way more hotter and charming over the years! And Erica Durance... she is so gorgeous. She's gotta be my girl crush or something because wow! lol. She's wonderful.

Clark and Lois' scene together when they were seperated by that door - I cried. I did. I was such a girl in this one! So much for calling me a tomboy-ish girl mum! But yeah I cried. Okay? Not fully on sobbing obviously, but tears were so rolling. It was a beautiful scene. And the soundtrack in this episode was awesome (right up until the very end with that Superman theme haha again for the same reasons as mentioned above).

Besides Clark and Lois' scenes, my favorite parts was also that of Clark with his parents. That scene in the barn brought - wait for it - even more tears. What's up with me today damnit? I don't think I ever cried to Smallville before! Well, I def. had a hard time keeping them back when Jonathan died back in season 5. Thanks for killing off my favorite character so early on dudes! So anyway Smallville goes Ghost Whisperer and I think it actually works despite what I imagined. Appearently GhostJonathan can touch people. Anyway back to the barn scene. That one and the Clark/Door/Lois scene were my two favorite parts. So gorgeous also because of the soundtrack. Pitch on perfect.

So yeah Jonathan Kent's my favorite character which is probably have enjoyed season 10 more since they brought him back for some episodes. I've never really been a fan of Martha, but she really breaks my heart in this one. When Clark is cold hearted and leaves her in the "ready to be left behind Kent Farm" and ghostJonathan and her look at each other with tears in their eyes... *My poor fangirly heart*

Speaking of - why the hell was there so many cows at the Farm at this point? Lol. Yeye they have to be somewhere, but I just found that amusing hehe.

Never been a fan of Lex either actually, but there's no denying they HAD to have him in the finale. Michael is a great actor and it didn't feel like he had been away from the character for years at all. Lionel I like even less haha. Good actor that Glover by all means, but Lionel... geez. Darkseid in Lionel was creepy as f*ck! Holy crap! XD

I knew they had to show the suit in the end, but again since I'm no comics geek it was pity that I sorta cringed instead since Smallville is about Superman growing up lol. I didn't cringe at anything else though and I LOVED that the scene before he puts it on has both of Clark's fathers there. Yey Jonathan Kent one last time! Thank YOU for that man! Yey!

Oh I almost forgot. I liked the scene where Jor-El showed Clark "everything" he's been through the last ten years set with the music. Nice sum up. And then he flew! Again this works just fine with me as long as there's no silly suits lol.

They killed Tess... they actually killed her. Wtf? Where did that come from? LOL.
Aww and I'm no kid person, but Chloe's kid awwww... there's like no doubt in the world who the daddy is haha. Though who the hell leaves a bow and arrow in a kids room? XD

I liked the effects in this one. Well at one point where we see the plane in the sky and the colors changes looks like something you can do in Windows Movie Maker, but beyond that... XD The planet was cool, Lois and Clark seeing each other on the plane... yiha!

"Save Me" was played for the last time huh? Kinda sad too lol. Been going on for ten years though so... yeah.

So that's it. "Smallville" is over, ten seasons later and Clark can be the hero he's been working on becoming. And has finally found a way to balance his Smallville life with his kryptonian side. And Lois and Chloe faithfully by his side. That's a nice ending right there. Tears were actually rolling and I was actually moved by it.

So for the first (heh) and def. last time. Photos from the finale!

Goodbye Smallville =)
