SAMPLE:

Caden stroked the soft waves of chestnut hair fanned across the pillow. He smiled as Larien stirred in her sleep. He had never been in love with someone before. He’d never had girlfriends before because he’d never seen himself as a family guy. Now, he was almost afraid to go to sleep for fear of waking to find that Larien had only been a dream.

It had taken him a while to get used to the fact that elves slept in a sort of coma like state. Their eyes remained open, glazing over to show that they were actually asleep, and that was how Larien was at the moment. He gazed down at her, trailing his fingertips over her cheek. She stirred again then blinked, the glaze leaving her eyes. She smiled as she looked up at him, kissing him lightly on the lips. His thumb trailed over the tip of her ear, and she sighed, closing her eyes.

“Amin mela lle,” he whispered, nuzzling his nose in her hair, breathing in her sweet scent. She smelt like the flowers of Lothlorien and the river Nimrodel. (I love you)

“Ar’ amin lle,” she whispered back. (And I you) “Come,” she sat up, “we must prepare to leave.”

“Now?” he whined, falling back on the bed and closing his eyes.

She laughed softly, stepping off the bed and straightening her clothes. “I know you long to see your sisters, belegohtar nin.”

“Yeah, but I feel better at least knowing they’re safe.” He grabbed a pillow and covered his face with it. “We don’t have to get there today.”

“It will take us far more than even a week to get to Eryn Lasgalen.”

He groaned, moving the pillow. “I’m looking forward to sleeping on the ground even now,” he muttered sarcastically.
