Left in the after math that is our trust
We cry and wonder, “Where is our love?”
Lying next to you breaks me
I try to be that someone for you
I can’t be what you want me to be
And it is starting to tare a hole
It digs to a place that you can’t take me
Thoughts are flooding in
My memories overwhelming
I feel your breath upon my neck
I feel the insecurities swelling
I know how this will end
I’m scared to even begin
I’ll tell you my secrets
Keep my thoughts to myself
I’ll give you every word
And you’ll place them on a shelf
Left there to collect dust
They’re sacred to you
We do what we must
Just to make it through
A smile, a laugh
A fear that grows
Our hearts feel more than we’ll ever know
Hand in hand we drift away
The moon rises up
It ends the day
But I still can’t be what you want me to be
The hole goes far
To a place that you can’t take me
