Pride Day

Yesterday, was Gay Pride Day. It was fun. The people seem to be making it smaller every year and the booths are not as well laid out as they used to. I dislike having stuff at the library. It is hot and bright over there on those white bricks. Overall it is still pretty fun though. I saw Sam (he didnt seem happy to see me for some reason), Lauren, Of course I saw Cami and her entourage. I did not see Taviah but did run into Dr. Robbins (my plant biology prof from UVSC). I went with Jeff and Aaron. I ran into Patrick (of course) but he was too busy with Jake and his other friends to talk to Aaron and I and just kinda blew us off. We were both a bit miffed by this. I was also suprised to see that the fenced in area was significantly smaller than last year.

One scary thing that happened was that a twenty-foot ladder fell on the crowded crosswalk. Jeff yelled at me to get out of the way - I turned around and jumped inside and the ladder crashed down on both sides of me. The man next to me was hit so hard that he was knocked unconcious, one lady was hit in the forehead right about her eye by the very top end of the ladder where it had the most momentum. I ran to the lady and made her lay down (she was wandering away in an obvious daze from the blow to the head). It hit me pretty hard in the wrist but today the doctor told me it is not broken....that is good. Still hurts though.

I saw Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Angelina didnt look as constipated as usual. I was impressed with most of it but toward the end it had too much theatrical violence and narrow escape after narrow escape. The final scene when the two bust out of the shed and kill everybody was too farfetched and stupid for even me to like. Instead of skilled killers (such as the husband and wife team in Undercover Blues) or people who really work at pretending to be their cover identity yet love each other anyway (such as in True Lies) These characters seeemed to be very one dimensional instead of fleshed out. I was also not impressed with the 15 min of advertisements before the 15 min of previews. In all (15+15 of course) there were about 25 minutes of that crap (not a whole half hour although it sure seemed like it). They did show a preview for fantastic four but it was the only one of the bunch that looked remotely interesting.

Overall pride day as always was fun. This one, however, due to the apparently inept planning that went into it I found quite lacking.
