I Don't Understand
Why are the conservative voices who are quick to praise our found fathers in this country the same as the those who would say that the United States is a Christian nation?
Fact: Most of the founding fathers were deists (George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Thomas Paine).
Fact: Those same founding fathers despised Christianity and wanted to make sure that it stayed out of the national government.
But time and time again we hear conservative commentators reach way back to our founders to instill a sense of patriotism in their listeners.
Of course, using only parts of people like Thomas Jefferson and George Washington to further your own goals is pretty much the same thing as lying.
I know I can't do anything to change the way the world works, especially the conservative world, but I do hope in time that people begin to see the shit that people like Glenn Beck smear over our faces.
