[If only he'd been paying closer attention, so focused on making sure that the others had gotten to safety that he'd let his mutation slip. The sheer level of energy he'd exerted throughout the last two days was apparently enough to mean that his usual durability is so weak that a bullet is able to pierce through his skin and cause serious damage.
At first Ethan had tried to keep on running through the steadily blooming pain, pressing on against the sharp ache that throbs up his left side. Eventually it becomes too much and Ethan has to stop, slumping to the ground against a wall as he presses his hand to his side. Still too far from anywhere to be realistically helped he knows all to well that his number in life is up.]

Haylie-mun
[This was all her fault. If she'd just registered, they wouldn't have gotten into this mess. He wouldn't have had to risk everything in saving her from the team sent to kill her if she'd just listened to him and registered, served her time.]
ETHAN!
[Whipping on her heel, she can't help the scream that escapes her lips when she sees him bleeding out. She's there right beside him within seconds, ripping off the bottom of her shirt so she can stop the bleeding.]
Oh, God, stop bleeding. Please stop.

Daken-mun
[It took Daken a few minutes to realize that the team leader was no longer with the main group. Where was he? Retracing the route, he smelled the blood even before he saw Ethan. There was so much of it. Daken knew death inside and out. But he never expected it so soon to the Captain. So strong and invulnerable, even he had been fooled into thinking he was bulletproof.
Slipping one of Ethan's arms around him, he attempted to get the other back on his feet. His voice and face betrayed nothing he was feeling.] Come on. You don't want to die here.
